Rose A. Santore, 95 years old, passed away peacefully at her home with family at her side on February 22,2026. Rose “Rosie” was born September 18,1930 in Youngstown, OH. She was the youngest child of Metro and Kathryn (Terlecky) Schemetti. Rose grew up on the family dairy farm in North Lima, helping with the cows, farm chores, and riding her white horse “Dolly” through the orchards. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1949 where she participated in track, basketball, and the band.
Rose married the love of her life, her husband Victor D. Santore on June 15, 1957 at St. Patrick’s Church in Youngstown. They were married for 49 years until his passing in 2006. She worked at General Electric for 18 years. Rose had a love for fashion, the lottery, and the slot machines. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and cooking for her family, especially during the holidays. She looked forward to the family beach vacations on the East coast.
Rose was a devoted mother of three children, Sherry Santore, Marcia (Robert) Schiffauer, and John Santore, all of Boardman. She was a proud grandmother to her two granddaughters, her buck-a-loos, Brittany (Jordan) Miller of Austintown and Courtney (GeorgeMichael) Passas of Boardman. She was a great grandmother to Leonidas “Leo” Passas. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren for graduating college. She was very involved in her grandchildren’s sports, modeling, dance, and music events. She enjoyed watching Brittany as a cheerleader and the featured twirler in the Boardman High School marching band, and following Courtney’s basketball career as a Boardman Spartan and Michigan State Spartan.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and eight sisters and brothers, Kathryn (Joe) Corpa, Mary, Anna Mae, John, Michael, Nicholas, infant brother, and infant sister Schemetti.
